Who this itinerary suits

People who want the Deluxe hotels and do not want to spend the trip retracing drives. The route runs as a loop rather than a hub: after Sonmarg you leave Srinagar and do not come back until the last night. It suits a second visit to Kashmir more than a first, because it assumes you would rather have good rooms and one long sweep than tick every meadow twice.

Why does the order matter?

Sonmarg is 85 km each way and the road is the first to close after heavy snowfall. Running it on day two, from a base you are not leaving that night, means a cancellation costs you a day trip rather than a night's accommodation. Most five-night routes put Sonmarg at the end, which is tidier on paper and worse in February.
