Daksum is a forested valley in Anantnag district, Kashmir, India. It lies 99 km from Srinagar at 2,438 m (8,000 ft) on the Bringi river, on the road that climbs to Sinthan Top.
There is no town: a stretch of conifer forest, a few huts, trout in the river and walking in every direction.

What is Daksum like?
Conifer forest, a fast river and very little else. The Bringi runs the length of the valley and holds trout; permits for fishing are issued by the fisheries department. Walking tracks lead up through the forest towards Sinthan.
Beyond Daksum the road climbs to Sinthan Top at about 3,800 m (12,500 ft), and trekking routes cross to the Warwan valley and on towards Kishtwar.
How do you reach Daksum?
99 km from Srinagar, about three hours, through Anantnag and past Kokernag. It is the furthest of the south Kashmir day trips, so we often combine it with Kokernag on the way out or back.
