How far is Daksum from Srinagar?

About 99 km, roughly three hours through Anantnag and Kokernag. It is the furthest of the south Kashmir trips, so it is best combined with Kokernag or done as an overnight.

What is there to do at Daksum?

Walking in the conifer forest, trout fishing on the Bringi river with a fisheries permit, and the drive or trek on towards Sinthan Top. There are no monuments and no market; the valley itself is the attraction.

Is the road to Sinthan Top open from Daksum?

Only in the warmer months, roughly June to October depending on snow. Sinthan Top sits at about 3,800 m and the pass closes early; check conditions before planning that leg.

Accommodation is limited to a small number of huts and guesthouses. Most guests come out from Srinagar or stay at Pahalgam or Anantnag and visit for the day.
