How far is Manasbal from Srinagar?

About 30 km north through Ganderbal, roughly an hour by road. It is the closest lake trip after Dal and Nigeen and works comfortably as a half day.

When does the lotus bloom at Manasbal?

Through July and August, when the flowers cover much of the surface. That is the most photographed time of year here, and the reason many visitors plan a summer trip out.

Is Manasbal good for birdwatching?

Yes, particularly in winter, when migratory duck, grebes and coots settle on the lake. Along with Hokersar it is one of the better wetland spots near Srinagar.

What is Jaroka Bagh?

A small Mughal garden built for Empress Nur Jahan on the ridge above the lake, with a view down over the water. It is modest compared with Shalimar or Nishat but the setting is the attraction.
