Pahalgam is 90 km from Srinagar, about two and a half hours by road through Anantnag. It is the longest of the three standard hill-station drives, which is why we usually give it a night rather than running it as a day trip.
Betaab Valley at 15 km, Aru at 12 km and Chandanwari at 16 km are the three that make up the standard circuit. Baisaran, a pine-ringed meadow above the town, is 5 km and reached on foot or by pony. The golf course and the Lidder riverbank are in the town itself.
