FAQ's

Queries About Plan An Amazing Tour With Us

April is tulip month: the Indira Gandhi Memorial garden opens for three to four weeks and the almond orchard at Badamwari flowers just before it. May and June are the warmest and busiest. From late September the chinars turn and rates drop sharply. January and February bring snow to the city itself, and skiing is 50 km up the road at Gulmarg.
Two days, if you want to see the place rather than tick it off. Day one is usually the lake and the terraced gardens, day two the shrines and Shahr-i-Khaas on foot. A third day buys Dachigam, Pari Mahal or simply a slower morning on the water. Most of our trips give the city two nights on arrival and one before the flight home.
For a night or two, yes. The boats are carved cedar, moored on Dal or the quieter Nigeen, and you reach yours by shikara. They are warm in winter, meals are cooked on board, and the view from the veranda at dawn is the reason people remember the stay. Beyond two nights most guests prefer a hotel for the space and the road access.
Roughly 12 km, or half an hour in normal traffic. Flights from Delhi take about ninety minutes, and there are direct services from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jammu and Leh. Arrival and departure transfers come with every package we run.
Dal Lake first, then the terraced gardens on its eastern shore. Add the temple on the hill above the Boulevard for the view, Hazratbal on the opposite bank, and a morning walking Shahr-i-Khaas for the shrines, the bridges and the craft workshops. Pari Mahal, Dachigam and the museum fill a third day.
No. Within the city limits your own car and driver stay with you from morning to night. The union rules that hand sightseeing to local taxis apply only once you reach Pahalgam, Sonmarg or Gulmarg, so everything you do here is already covered by the vehicle in your package.
Yes. Srinagar is a working city that receives visitors all year, and tourist areas - the Boulevard, the gardens, the old city and the lake - are busy and well patrolled. Normal city sense applies: agree fares before you get into a shikara or a pony, buy shawls and carpets from established shops, and keep an eye on local advisories in winter when roads and flights can be affected by weather rather than anything else.
Srinagar has four clear seasons at 1,585 m. March to April is 10-20 C with showers, May to June 20-32 C and dry, October to November 8-22 C and clear, and December to February between -5 and 8 C with snow. Evenings are cool even in summer, so carry a light jacket in every season.
Our Kashmir packages start at about Rs 6,300 per person for a two-night trip, based on two adults sharing a double room, and include hotel or houseboat stay, breakfast and dinner, a private vehicle with driver, airport transfers and sightseeing. Rates are highest in May and June, and 20-40 per cent lower in October and November. Flights, entry fees, pony and shikara rides taken on the spot, and local union taxis in the hill stations are not included.
Book it as part of your itinerary rather than on arrival at the ghat. We put you on houseboats we have inspected ourselves, in the category you choose, and the shikara transfer to and from the boat is arranged with it. Deluxe and heritage boats on Dal and the quieter Nigeen Lake both come with an attached bathroom, heating in winter and meals on board.
Yes, when it is open. The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden on the Zabarwan foothills is Asia's largest, with about 1.5 million bulbs, and it opens for only three to four weeks from late March into April. Dates shift each year with the weather and are announced shortly before opening. If your trip falls in that window we build it into the Srinagar day.
Pashmina shawls, Kani and Tilla work, hand-knotted carpets, papier-mache, walnut-wood carving, and Pampore saffron, apples, walnuts and almonds. Buy from established showrooms in the old city or around Lal Chowk, ask for a receipt and, on carpets and shawls, for the certificate of authenticity. We are happy to point you to the workshops we know rather than the commission stops.
It is a different holiday, and a cheaper one. Snow settles on the gardens in January, the lake freezes at the edges on the coldest mornings, and rates are at their floor apart from the Christmas and New Year weeks. The trade-off is weather: leave a spare day at each end in case flights or the highway are held up.
Gulmarg is the closest at 50 km, about ninety minutes. Sonmarg is 80 km and Pahalgam 90 km, both around two and a half hours because of the road rather than the distance. All three can be done and returned in a day, though we usually give Gulmarg and Pahalgam a night each.
Yes. Families make up a large share of visitors, and the places most people see — Dal Lake, the Mughal Gardens, the old town — are busy and used to tourists. Fix shikara, pony and sledge rates before you set off, keep children in sight on the houseboat decks, and follow local advisories in winter when weather rather than anything else disrupts travel.
It depends on the category and the season, and rates move a lot between the May-June peak and the winter months. Rather than quote a figure that changes, we price the houseboat inside your itinerary with meals and the shikara transfer included, so tell us your dates and category and we will give you the current rate.
Layers in every season. Summer days reach the high twenties but evenings on the water are cool, so carry a light jacket even in June. Winter needs a proper coat, gloves and waterproof shoes for snow. For shrines and the old town, cover shoulders and knees; women may be asked to cover their head at Hazratbal and Jamia Masjid, so carry a scarf.
It is one of the most booked honeymoon destinations in India, and the standard shape is two nights in Srinagar with a houseboat night, then Gulmarg and Pahalgam. A shikara at sunset, a garden morning and the drive up to the meadows is what most couples come for.
Four to six nights covers the four main destinations at a reasonable pace: two nights in Srinagar, one each in Gulmarg and Pahalgam, with Sonmarg as a day trip. A week lets you add the quieter valleys like Doodh Pathri or Yousmarg.
