Kashmir Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 70 course of about 52 acres off MA Road in central Srinagar, laid out by the British in 1887. It is one of the oldest courses in the subcontinent and sits improbably close to the city's busiest roads, screened by mature chinar and poplar. Visitors can usually play as guests; arrange it before you arrive.

What is the course like?
Eighteen holes at par 70 across about 52 acres of flat, tree-lined ground, short by modern standards and tight because of the chinars.
The trees are the defence here; there is little room to spray a drive. The clubhouse and the practice ground sit at the MA Road end, and the Shankaracharya hill rises beyond the far boundary.
Can visitors play?
Usually yes, as a guest, with clubs available for hire. Tee times and green fees are best arranged in advance.

When is the golf season in Srinagar?
Roughly April to November. Midsummer mornings are the pick; the course closes to play in the depth of winter.
